Case Study: Eden Training and the Keighley University Academy
The education team have recently carried out the first Big Academy workshop sessions, working with Eden Training and the Keighley University Academy, and are delighted with the response that they received from both students and staff.
Stephanie Wilkinson, Educational Resource Manager, said: “It was really exciting to get the workshops started, helping young people to focus on their futures. The response was fantastic, students really got involved with the activities and it was great to see them interacting so positively with each other. I’m really looking forward to carrying on this work in the next school year.”
Young people who attended the workshops were given advice on how to prepare for finding work, how to look for jobs that would suit their skills and were also introduced to the Big Academy website and it’s many features.
Students also worked in groups to think about the changing world of work and were given group tasks to get them involved and thinking about the work they may do in the future.
Teacher Dean Watkin, from Keighley University Academy, added: “Our students really got a lot from the sessions led by the Big Academy. Students had to think about their futures and looked at how changes in society may impact on their career choice. Work carried out in the sessions will form part of their ‘Career Passport’ in the 6th From and will be used to aid career information, advice and guidance.
“We are really excited about the opportunities which the Big Academy has to offer and look forward to working with them in the future.”
