You will be employed by SEAC (an Apprenticeship Training Agency) to complete an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools on placement with a school based in Longwick, Princes Risborough.
An opportunity to start your career as a classroom support assistant, providing support to teaching staff and pupils in this lovely combined school.
On a day to day basis, you can expect to be supporting children with their learning across a range of subjects. You may be supporting children who have additional learning needs and you will do this under the guidance of experienced teaching staff. Duties include:
•Attending to pupils’ personal needs, implementing related personal programmes.
•Provide support for pupils including those with special needs, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
•Following Pupil Profiles, Behaviour Management Plans and Personal Care programmes.
•Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
•Encourage pupils to interact and engage.
•Creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans.
•Use strategies (in liaison with teacher, SLT and SENDCo) to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
•Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement and/or progress.
•Provide clerical/admin support (eg filing, photocopying, typing etc).
•Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use.
Plus other duties relevant to the role.

For all school roles, enhanced DBS clearance is necessary.
Please note that strong literacy and numeracy skills are required in order to support children through their own learning. The quality of your application completion will be a factor in the selection process.
•Experience of working with children and young people would be an advantage but not essential.
•Good communication skills with adults, children and young adults.
•The ability to liaise with other professionals in order to carry out required recommendations.
•Good working knowledge of ICT and to be able to use ICT effectively to support learning.
•Good literacy and numeracy skills.
•Good written and spoken English.
•Working constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
•Ability to follow directions and take own initiative.
•Flexible, adaptable and supportive.
•Calm, caring and patient approach.
•A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
•Willingness to learn.
•You will need to be strong but empathetic, caring, enthusiastic and endearing.
•Good standard of literacy and numeracy. GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) required in English and Maths.
•Achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.
•Excellent career prospects - Possibility of full time permanent Classroom Support Assistant after 12 months, subject to business need and budget.
•The APPRENTICESHIP programme will last for approx 15 months and you will be based in the workplace so you will gain some fantastic work experience.
